
Pittsburgh native, Angel, a massage therapist with the Duquesne Club for 5 years, began her career with a degree in Exercise Physiology. She worked for 10 years as a personal trainer and received a massage therapy degree in 1999. Angel's specialties include Myoskeletal Alignment (MAT), Orthopedic Massage, Active Isolated Stretching and Maya Abdominal Massage-The Arvigo Technique. She has trained with James Waslaski, one of the top sports massage therapists in the country, since 1999 and is one of his student teachers. Angel served as a Team Leader for MERT (Massage Emergency Rescue Team) in which she traveled to Somerset and NYC to help the rescue workers relieve stress during 9/11.

Pittsburgh native, Cindy has 22 years of massage and bodywork experience. She completed a massage therapy apprenticeship in 1988, achieved her National Certification in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCTMB) in 1993, and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1998 with a Business degree. She studied with James Waslaski and is certified in his Orthopedic Massage for Pain Management and is looking forward to working with him this year as one of his teaching assistants. Cindy also holds certifications in Active Release Technique (ART)--Lower Body and Thai-Yoga Massage (Lotus-Palm method). Other specialties include Myofascial Release (John Barnes technique), Active Isolated Stretching (AIS), Myoskeletal Alignment Technique (MAT), Deep Tissue Massage. and Kinesiotaping. Cindy has enjoyed providing bodywork for Pittsburgh's world champion professional athletes over the past 9 years.

Catherine has been working at the spa since October of 2008. She went to the Pittsburgh School of Massage Therapy where she then worked in a variety of settings including chiropractic and hospice. Recently, Catherine has been expanding her list of modalities (Swedish, Hot Stone, Deep Tissue and Reflexology) to now include Pregnancy massage. Her magical massage abilities will put even the most stressed client at ease.

Becky has worked at Centre Ave. Massage & Spa since our opening. She feels lucky to be working with a wonderful group of like-minded therapists who are equally devoted to our clients wellness. Her 18 years of dance training taught her how the body works, and her continuous training in massage teaches her how to help the body work more efficiently.

Jayne is a nationally and New York State Licensed Massage Therapist. After receiving a bachelor’s degree from Vassar College, she studied massage therapy at the Center for Natural Wellness School of Massage Therapy in Albany, NY, where she completed over 1,000 hours of study in Swedish Massage, Sports Massage, Neuromuscular Therapy, Medical Massage, Myofascial Release, Shiatsu, and the sciences of Anatomy, Physiology, Myology, Kinesiology, and Neurology. Since her graduation in 2004, Jayne has continued her studies with courses in Myofascial release and Thai Massage.
Jayne’s massage technique is informed by her interest in and understanding of the workings of the muscular, fascial, and nervous systems. Her work has offered diverse benefits for different people, including relief of chronic muscle tension, escape from stress and anxiety, improved posture, help with injuries, headache relief, and improved flexibility and sports performance. Jayne is also a competitive rower and high school rowing coach.

Renee is a former social worker and birth doula. She saw, for years, the inter-relationship between mental health and the physical body. While working with women in childbirth, Renee became interested in massage and the power of physical and emotional comfort that touch offered. She completed her training at the Pittsburgh School of Massage Therapy and the Massage Therapy Institute of Western Pennsylvania. Her specialities include Deep Tissue Massage, Pregnancy Massage, and Manual Lymphatic Drainage. Now, through massage, Renee is able to work with clients in a new way.

Amy graduated from the Chicago School of Massage Therapy and received her National Certification for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork in 1996. During her 14 years of practice she learned and experienced the amazing healing power of the mind, body and soul. She continuously studies various healing methods and integrates all of her knowledge and skills to offer the most effective way for each individual to help the client achieve their optimal health and wellness. Modalities she uses are Deep Tissue, Sports, Shiatsu, Reflexology, Neuromuscular Trigger Point Therapy and Myofascial Release. In addition to those modalities Amy also offers great energy work like Reiki, CSFT (Cerebral Spiral Fluid Technique), Cranioscral, Lymphatic Drainage and more.

Erica Wessell--Associate of Science in Physical Therapy, CMT
Erica is our newest therapist, bringing with her 10 years of massage and physical therapy experience. At UPMC, Erica worked as a PTA in several fields. Some of which include; Outpatient, Post-Op, Sports Medicine, Orthopedic, and Woman's Health. After years of successful work at UPMC, Erica began to learn how to enrich her massages with what she learned about physical therapy. Erica's areas of expertise lie across a broad spectrum of therapies. Erica's specializes in: Deep tissue massage, Swedish massage, manual lymphatic drainage, as well as stretching and strength training. All of these services provide over all body wellness and health while at the same time helping to relax tired and sore muscles.
